The tooth is only infected if you experience a constant pain, not when it feels painful whenever you bit down on it. It's like scraping your knees in a fall, you don't go to the doctor to have that nerve killed. Same with a tooth. A $200 fix with root canal goes up to $1000 plus more with a cap. Crooks, I think so. Be careful. As long as you haven't waited too long - the tooth is not infected or dead. Many minor chips can be fixed using Denseal. Buy it on ebay for $17. Even if you have no cavities, use it to add sealant to your existing teeth. By the way; on ebay I found stainless caps for $21. Can you imagine, dentist charging $800 to put them in. That is a lot of rip-off. And get this dental stone comes in 20lb bags, it's a plaster that hardens like a rock. It sells for $9 a bag enouth to do 500 teeth and more. Yes, it takes a bit longer to set, but hey - it works too. It all depends on what you want to put in your mouth or pay for. I can tell you stores about bad dentist in South Jersey, alway ask for another opinion if you can, especially if the say you need a root canal.
